I've enrolled myself in a four week course through the yoga studio I have been attending here in San Diego. It's a very quaint studio, and isn't overly crowded like that one I attended in LA. With a bit of encouragement (ok, a lot of encouragement) from the studio owner, I signed up for her 4 week intensive yoga course.
Throughout the next 4 weeks, I have Saturday sessions in addition to a minimum of 3 classes a week. I already go about that much already (averaging 4-5 times a week, I think), but the Saturday sessions also include discussion. It just started last Saturday, so there is still this whole month to go. I am really hoping to get a lot out of the course, or at least the commitment out of myself to go 4-5 times a week consistently.
Right now, I'm really struggling, but SO CLOSE to two poses - the splits & forearm stand. In case you can't visualize, here are some Google images for you. We haven't officially picked out our three focus poses yet, but these are probably going to be two of mine.
I've been practicing yoga for a year now, although some major breaks in there. When I live in LA I tried out just about every studio in the western SFV and West Side. Between each Groupon, I took significant breaks, plus each studio was very different in their ways. Finally in November 2011, I joined CorePower Yoga in West LA, and gained a lot of strength, especially core (hence the name). CPY was really a great place for me to start and build a foundation, but the studio I found here (Yoga 80 in Sorrento Valley) is really exceptional and I hope to find that next level here. If you want to know more about the studio, my Yelp review of Yoga 80 can be found here.
